Between 4 & 6 million Sockeye Salmon enter Lake Iliama via the Kivjak River from the Bering sea, offering fishing over schools of thousands of fish.
Rainbow Trout
Southwest Alaska is one of the few places in the world where a 20” wild Rainbow Trout is a given and a 30”er at true possibility! The millions of eggs deposited each summer in the rivers of southwest Alaska feed the multitude of Rainbows both resident to the stream and the residents of Lake Iliamna that follow the Salmon into it’s tributaries each year. It is not unusual to catch 20 – 40 native Rainbows a day up 25 – 30” in a days fishing with either fly or spinning tackle. You want to fish the famous Alaskan Rainbow streams like the Copper, Gibralter, Morain, Funnel, Brooks and many more lesser known but no less significiant rivers, Angry Eagle can take you there!
Char, Sea Run Dolly Varden, Grayling, Pike
Angry Eagle in conjunction with 2 other outfitters have leased the exclusive fishing rights on the Indian lands bordering one of the best Arctic Char rivers in southwest Alaska, the Iliamna River. Jet boat from the mouth as much as 45 minutes upriver in areas that inaccessible to float planes and experience catches of 30 – 50 Char a day between 20 & 30.” If you want the Char fishing experience of your life, you need to fish the Iliamna River! Sea run Dolly Varden follow the Salmon into the freshwater streams flowing into Cook Inlet and Bay. They can be found feeding on eggs below the salmon in these streams. Dollys up to 30” are not uncommon. Grayling and Lake Trout can be caught in a number of the streams and Lakes we fish Lake Clark National Park. There is no need to make a special trip to northern Canada for a chance at HUGE NORTHERN PIKE! A short 40 minute flight by float plane will put you on a 1,000 acre lake that is loaded with monster Northern Pike. We routinely catch pike in the mid 40 inch ranch and nearly every summer our anglers will catch a couple of pike that will top 50!” The biggest I have caught there went 53 inches, a true monster anywhere on earth!
